This book, along with its "companion" volume "Sitting at the Feet of Rabbi Jesus", gives absolutely invaluable insight into the reality of walking with Jesus and understanding His teachings from the viewpoint of the times in which He was on Earth. Tverberg has researched this well and shares her gained insights in a clear, comprehensive, intriguing way. This book both increases knowledge and intellectual understanding, and draws one into the love He came to offer. It makes it possible to understand how and why so many at that time were drawn irrevocably to follow Him and want to be like Him. She explains many things that may have been puzzling you, and suddenly His teachings make a whole lot more sense. For anyone, Jew or Gentile, who wishes to know and understand what Jesus was really teaching.

This is an amazing book and I love it. Every Christian read it and learn what has been missing in the teaching we have been getting in our churches over these many years. There is so much to learn about how important it is to include both the Old Testament and the New Testament. The statement that the NT is hidden in the OT and the OT is revealed in the NT. Most people sit in church and maybe even take their Bibles or attend a Bible Study and still miss that Jesus was Jewish and the disciples were Jewish and the many first converts worshiped in a Synagogue. So much Antisemitism and replacement is being taught. All that God promised His people is coming to pass daily and has been happening right before our eyes.

Lois’s books, in case you have never read one, are funny, inspiring and educating. Lois helps those who love Jesus understand Him in the land and time He came to earth. From there, the chasm between Western thought and understanding to Jewish life and thought begins to close. One thing I observed is Western thought is separated into different segments whereas Jewish thought/life is so woven together that one cannot see where Jewish life, thought, etc. begins or ends. The other observation is that there is deeper truth to discover about God, the Word, Israel and her people, which gives me a thrill learning and spending time with God.There are times I would burst out laughing at the way Lois describes a goof she made, or word picture to describe a truth. Another observation fact is the deeper truths go when reading the book with a friend and discussing the material. For me, it tends to remain better in my heart and mind in the process. While Lois’s education is impressive to say the least, she writes humbly, inspirationally, and very down to earth. Please understand this is not an academic endeavor for her, but really seeking to understand the Rabbi Jesus in all His Jewishness.For those who seek to grow closer to the Master, here is just one of the books Lois offers to help guide them on a path she remains on to this day. In other words, walking in the dust of Rabbi Jesus. Come and walk along with us. You will never regret it! Shalom!

This type of learning is a much needed view point for Christians in search of a better understanding of the Gospels. True understanding starts "in the beginning". The material contained in this book goes hand in hand with the teachings of Kenneth Bailey in his "through middle eastern eyes" series. It is very refreshing to see some of the anti-Semitic views the church has taken through the ages now becoming a major topic amongst culturally unbiased authors. Hopefully more and more authors and historians will continue to spread the truth about the closed minded prospective we unknowingly absorb as westerners. The truth is, we as Christians, have descended from our Hebrew patriarchs and to better understand our Saviour we must first understand HIS roots and accept them as our own. Thank you for providing us with the opportunity to better understand the background behind The Word.

Lois Tverberg provides some great new insights for familiar teachings of Jesus. After providing some helpful historical, linguistic and literary context information, she offers VERY relevant practical applications of these familiar passages in ways you may not have considered before. Walking in the Dust of Rabbi Jesus has added value to my understanding of Jesus' teachings. And, the book has challenged me towards spiritual growth in important areas. I originally listened to the book on Audible.com and then decided to purchase the Kindle version. I will be using some of this book's content while teaching a grad level Hermeneutics class for Southwestern Christian University. Loved this book! I look forward to reading another of her books, Sitting at the Feet of Rabbi Jesus.

Will be reading this book over and over because I learn so much from it. Love that this is written with the time, place, and culture in mind. Helps to put me in that world and get out of this modern world thinking in order to understand more deeply what was being taught by my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Am trying to get closer to Him by understanding His Jewish way of life, what and how He thought and His world while He was on the Earth. Have purchased two of the other books in this series and look forward to learning even more.

Excellent for anyone who really wants to understand Yeshua the Messiah. I think most Christians today just don't understand the New Covenant because they do not understand the Jewishness of Yeshua (Jesus). If you want a great study, check this out!
