About the Author

Louise Stoltzfus learned the art of quilting and cooking from her mother, Miriam Stoltzfus. While she puts occasional stitches in one or another of the many quilts her mother always seems to have in frame, Stoltzfus regrettably seldom finds time for quilting. Â Â Â Â Â With Phyllis Pellman Good she has co-authored two other cookbooks, The Central Market Cookbook and The Best of Mennonite Fellowship Meals. Â Â Â Â Â Stoltzfus is an editor for Good Books and also serves as director of The PeopleÂ’s Place Gallery in Intercourse, Pennsylvania. She lives in a restored rowhouse in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

In the 90s I saw a notice that a new cookbook was being planned with quilters in mind. Anyone willing to send in three recipes and test three recipes from someone else would get the cookbook for free. Needless to say, I sent in my three and tested three, I had my copy of the book until my divorce and only Heaven knows what happened to it after that, but thankfully, I have found another copy through a wonderful seller. I have searched for it for 14 years! (Of course I could not remember the full title so that added to the problem). It is a great book with really good recipes that leave a lot of time for quilting or other activities.

--and its not just for quilters! One of my son's in a very casual way picked it up and before he finished his visit wanted to make a copy of a recipe he had been long looking for. The recipes are simple, easy and timeless. I would definitely buy again.

Favorite cookbook EVER!! Use it all the time an have had to replace twice!! Am ordering as I find them and giving to all my friends!

I don't think I'd be able to count how many times I've used this cookbook.This is my second copy, as the first one is almost illegible because of all the grease stains.The recipes are easy to follow and use ingredients that are most often right in my kitchen. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants homecooked meals without spending the day in the kitchen.

I love this cook book. I bought this one as a replacement for mine which has my personal notes written next to countless recipes stating who loved it, when and why I made it . My original will be passed down to my. Daughter and I will keep the new one.
