This is one of my favorite regional cookbooks. The recipes are not difficult, and they utilize those ingredients and flavors that so represent this part of the US.I happen to live in this part of the US -- a transplant originally from the midwest -- and I've grown to love the bold flavors and often rustic yet sophisticated dishes that you find up here. This book is full of them. Take, for example, the Hazelnut Chicken Breasts with Cranberry Cherry Sauce. The sauce is tart/sweet, and would also work well with pork. Balsamic Roasted Walla Walla Onions make a wonderful side dish, with the slightly sweet onions contrasting with the slightly sour balsamic vinegar. For dessert: Nectarine and Berry Cobbler. Now THERE'S a meal! :-)There's a good index, and some very nice art work, not to mention a good smattering of photos of some of the dishes. This is a Junior League cookbook, so you know the recipes are tried and true. I haven't been disappointed in any of them so far, and i've tried a dozen or so.If you're looking for a cookbook that takes advantage of many of the unique flavors and ingredients of the Pacific Northwest, this is your book. Well worth it.

Easy and tasty recipes. Clear instruction, ingredient list has plenty of space to add or sub ingredients. With all cook books, not all recipes are usable due to regional ingredients, so get creative and have fun with great value. I bought the used condition, it was in excellent un-used condition, no marks.

This is a great book, as are all of the Seattle League collections. I own them all and have purchased each of them multiple times to give as gifts. All are at their peak usefullness here in the Pacific Northwest, as the fresh ingredients are sourced here.

I love this cookbook and have gifted copies to everyone in my family. It seems all my go-to recipes are from this cookbook. The oyster wash hidden on the bottom of one of the first pages has become a favorite salad dressing and the Thai Bisque is devine. As my title says this is a Must Have cookbook!

This is the next best cookbook from the Junior League of Seattle. I have their first one, "Simply Classic" and it was a great cookbook. I waited for them to come out with another one and WOW! If you loved Simply Classic you will not be disappointed. This cookbook has excellent recipes that are gourmet in taste but are easy to prepare with everyday common ingredients. I hope their next cookbook they don't wait so long to publish!

"Celebrate the Rain" is written for the home cook. It has such a variety of dishes that it would make a perfect gift for someone on your list. While the book is a selection from women who live in the Northwest, the recipes are suitable for any area of the country. Furthermore, it offers something for every kind of cook ... hors d'oeuvres, main dishes, meat, poultry, fish, and delectable desserts. I have given this book to several people in other states, and all of them rave about the recipes. It's one of those books you can feel confident about giving. So, whether it's for yourself or for someone else, "Celebrate the Rain" is a treasure for anyone who enjoys cooking. I wouldn't trade my copy for all the tea in China!

Recipes easy to duplicate. Incredible recipes with fun ingredients! Very creative puctures are fun and it is very well organized

Many recipes that I am excited to try but the "glued binding" is pulling apart in numerous spots while initially perusing it. Since it was printed in 2004, perhaps the adhesive used to bind has deteriorated in storage. Just be forewarned to handle very carefully. Probably won't tolerate being repeatedly opened flat during use.
